The quietly determined
You want to grow, but loud, high-pressure advice has never fit you.
About
The Sparrow's Way is for people doing the hard work of growing, who want to become better, kinder and stronger without burning out, and to feel proud of how far they've come.
I'm Eli Halren. For more than twenty years I've had the joy of being a life coach and mentor, mostly with young adults coming through the foster care system, out of homelessness, surviving trafficking, fighting addiction, and raising children on their own, and with the adults who support them. I have had a leadership role among coworkers with my experiences and have happily given advice when asked.
I started in the hole myself. I grew up in poverty and came into adulthood the hard way. So what I share here comes from years alongside people doing this work, and from having had to do it myself.
My work has been influenced by the Trauma-Informed Care culture and is one of many tools I call my tools in development. I am continually studying what research says about how people grow and heal. This includes anything from neuroscience to wellbeing and health. I am not a therapist, and this is not therapy. It's what many years have shown to work, written plainly, and all are welcome to this information.
Sparrows are small, ordinary and easy to overlook. Yet they're everywhere. They're resilient, they adapt, and they keep going through every season.
That's the kind of growth this site is about. It isn't flashy or overnight. It's steady and faithful, and it happens one small flight at a time.
If you've ever felt too small to make a real change, this place is for you.

You want to grow, but loud, high-pressure advice has never fit you.
You're in a new season and looking for simple, doable ways to begin again.
You've been running on empty. Rest first, then rebuild. You're stronger than you feel right now, and there are good days ahead worth rebuilding for.
